Owned by Lion Nathan, Stonier divides its production between its premier Reserve label and its ‘standard’ brand that is sourced from various Mornington Peninsula properties. Its best wine is its tangy, citrusy Reserve Chardonnay, which has been astonishingly consistent in recent years. The Reserve Pinot Noir has slipped a little of late, flirting with wild and woolly flavours, but makes a spectacular return to form in 2003. Jeremy Olvier
