Penfolds Shiraz Barossa Valley RWT 2001, Penfolds introduced the RWT - a single-appellation Barossa Valley Shiraz matured in French oak - with the 1997 vintage. This red complements the multiregional Grange bottling, which is matured in American oak. Peter Gago, Penfolds chief winemaker, sourced more than 40 per cent of the grapes from Penfolds Kalimna Vineyard. The initial stand for "Red Winemaking Trail," the name given internally to the project, which began in 1995.
