Devil's Lair Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Devil's Lair Cabernet Sauvignon 1999, Margaret River. Harmonious. Richly concentrated, smooth textured fruit. 2-10 years. 5 Stars Decanter Magazine, London, EN - UK

This is powerful and concentrated with great palate richness and a fair bit of oak. It's built for the longer term and although it's a powerhouse in flavour intensity, there is a fine, elegant side to it. The West Australian - Australia, Ray Jordon

Devil's Lair is a fairly recently acquired property of Australia's biggest wine company, Southcorp Wines. It comes from the beautiful Margaret River district, 350km south of Perth... Locals say the 1999 vintage was exceptional, and Cabernet always seems to be the outstanding grape variety here, certainly among the red wines. The winemaker was Stuart Pym, a local, who believes this is the best Cabernet they have made to date.

This wine is a blend of 87% cabernet, which means it can legally be labelled as cabernet sauvignon, with the balance of 13% being merlot, which softens and rounds the wine off somewhat. It's incredibly minty with a nose and palate with striking overtones of cassis and mulberries. Robert Mayne Canberra Times - Australia
