Clean, bright and much fresher nose than the 2000 Brut offers notes of green apple and discreet yeast nuances precedes equally clean, crisp and precise flavors that are supported by moderate effervescence and enough depth and length to be interesting. Delicious but not simple. Drink now or cellar for 2 to 3 years. 89/now+ Alan Meadows, Burghound
With its distinctive red label, this has established itself as one of the most reliable champagnes at the lower priced end of the market. Has excellent fine mousse and a complex bouquet of ripe fruit and yeasty brioche, the refined palate tightening the game with fresh apple and ripe citrus fruit, then a pleasingly dry finish. 93 points James Halliday
A gorgeous, toasty nose leads to candied citrus, honey and toast flavors in a medium-bodied, sumptuous profile. Very accessible and full of warmth and personality, with fine length. Drink now 91 points Wine Spectator
Florens-Louis Heidsieck was the son of a Lutheran minister from Westphalia. He moved to Reims to be a cloth merchant, and discovered wine-making there. He started making his own in 1780, and since he was neither a viticulturist nor native from Reims, he showed talent and worked hard at his new-found profession. He founded his own House on 16 July 1785. He had already become an expert at his art, and even dedicated one of his wines to Queen Marie-Antoinette. He was granted the honor of presenting it to Her Majesty in person.
