An early heatwave in January caused some initial concern in the lead up to vintage 2007. However its only effect was to bring on flavour ripeness earlier than usual. As soon as the heat disappeared, the grapes were ready to harvest and the remainder of January and February remained mild and dry. The grapes for this wine have been selected from vineyards in the cooler regions of South Australia – Adelaide Hills and the Eden Valley, where the long even ripening season ensures that the fine aromatics in the berries are retained.
