A superb wine of exceptional presence, structure and underlying strength. Still very closed and brooding, its alluring bouquet slowly reveals layers of dark berries, plums, cedary oak, dark chocolate and spicy suggestions of cloves, nutmeg and white pepper. Long and sumptuous, its tightly focused and spicy, slightly meaty and dark-fruited palate is framed by a drying spine of loose-knit tannin. Very youthful indeed. Big, plush, perfumed wine. Molassis and liqueured cherries and grunty tannin, with a tremendous amount of plummy deliciousness rolling across the tongue. Oak takes a back seat. More for drinkers than thinkers - and blessed be that so. A wine with a scrumptious, rich immediacy despite the presence of tense, ripe, exquisite tannin. Drink: 2006-2018. 94 points.
