Vin Alto is the first New Zealand vineyard dedicated to the production of traditional northern Italian style wines and it is the realisation of a dream for Enzo Bettio and his family. Enzo has for many years been a lover of Italian wines with their many varieties and styles and their wonderful affinity to the Mediterranean and Italian foods that were an influential part of his background. Vin Alto boasts one of the largest selections of cloned Italian grape varieties in Australasia. These varieties are grown on the steep warm hills of Clevedon, where the conditions are similar to the famous wine regions of Verona and Alba in Italy.
At Vin Alto's Clevedon vineyard, every care has been taken to replicate the traditional winemaking methods that are still used today in areas such as Verona and Valtelina. The result is a range of wines that have a growing reputation for being excitingly different to any other in New Zealand.
