"The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape.. exhibits a dark ruby/purple color along with a big, sweet nose of framboise, blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, roasted herbs, and hints of licorice as well as incense. Full-bodied, opulent, and fleshy with light to moderate tannin in the finish, it should drink well for 15 or more years. 91-93 points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.
This comes from bio-dynamically farmed vines with an average vine age of 80 years (2 hectares are over 100 years of age!). It is a benchmark in its own right. The most striking character of the 2005 is the fleshy, elegant, supple texture. It is a beautiful, velvety wine that will live and develop for. Anyone who thinks that the wines of the Southern Rhone are necessarily rustic will need to think again. Lovely stuff!
