Santa Rita '120' Chardonnay 2006

Winemaker's comments : This brilliant and lively young wine has a soft yellow color with slightly green hues. Its vivacious flavor and aroma has luscious tropical notes with delicate undertones of maracuyá, guava, mango and pineapple. Its pleasant acidity provides an elegant, lingering persistency. Warm on the palate, it perfectly complements many foods.

Winemaker : Cecilia Torres

Variety: 85% Chardonnay

Region : Central Valley

Climate & Soil : The Central zone climate is mainly Mediterranean (warm - hot). Maximum summer temperatures exceed 30° C, with relative humidity and variability ranging between 55 to 60%. In this strip of land, located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, summers are slightly cooler and the relative humidity is higher. Night temperatures are usually low due to the cold winds blowing down from the Andes. These factors result in unique characteristics for the grapes originating from this zone. In general, a selection of vineyards located in franc textured soils with excellent drainage. In some cases, shallow, heavier textured soils are used in order to ensure regulated growth. These soils are generally located in the Andes Mountains or Coastal Mountain Range.

Vinification : Grapes are hand picked, destemmed and crushed. They are pressed with cuts so as to obtain the best palate balance. A clean fermentation (30-50NTU) is carried out at low temperatures, 13 to 15°C. Once fermentation has finished, the wine is clarified and filtered for bottling. It is aged in stainless steel tanks.

Suggested Food : Casseroles, salads, shellfish, fish, cheese, white meats.
