Sometimes a Reserve wine actually turns about to be an inferior wine to the wineries standard label. Stick it oak for another year, put it in a heavier bottle, charge twice the price and call it a Reserve. For me I like fruit purity with oak supporting the fruit. Not overkill. Hence, I always look at reserve wines with guarded caution. I have rated it equal points to the standard because for me, it is not a step up on the standard, but a different take on Tassie Pinot (hope this makes sense). It is a wine that is definitely built for the long haul. Whilst it still has rose petals and cherries (ie quite feminine), it has power behind this fruit and oak for me, only pays a part rather than dominating the wine. 95 points Anthony D'Anna
