Our vineyard is higher and cooler than those on the floor of the Yarra Valley, making it one of the lowest yielding in the region. This largely determines the quality, character and ageing potential of the wines with their refined fruit flavours, balanced structure and good acid. The grapes are harvested at 12.5 – 13 baume, usually in mid April. The vineyard is maintained in the traditional manner, with no irrigation. - Gembrook Hill
'The 6-hectare Gembrook Hill Vineyard is situated on rich, red volcanic soils 2 kilometres north of Gembrook in the coolest part of the Yarra Valley. The vines are not irrigated, with consequent natural vigour control.mmaculate viticulture, with great attention to detail and to canopy management and manipulation, neatly offsets the ultra-cool site climate at Gembrook. The Chardonnay always shows its cool-climate origins, but is never thin or herbal.' - James Halliday
