Patrick Jasmin produces only one magnificent red, with grapes produced from several different parcels spread over the appellation of Cote Rotie which include the Cote Brune, Les Moutonnes and Cote Bodin climats, one hectare in the lieu-dit of Les Baleyats, and one hectare in the Cote Blonde. What is a Jasmin Cote Rotie like? The British wine writer James Turnbull describes it as, "..Never the darkest of the Cote Roties, the Jasmins' wine is always beautifully perfumed and harmonious, with an elegance which has often led it to being described as the most "Burgundian" of its ilk.
A classic Côte Rôtie that reveals its traditional roots in a bouquet of raspberries and violets and a palate of dense black fruit flavours and ripe tannins. Cautious modernisation is evident in more consistent concentration, improved colour and deft deployment of oak adding a little more polish to this justly celebrated Côte Rôtie. The Jasmin Côte Rôtie is always fruit accentuated and has been described by Robert Parker as "the most Burgundian of the appellation". Commendably no ‘special’ cuvees are made.
