A remarkable Port that drinks incredibly well now although it will obviously live and develop for decades. The balance here is so perfect, the texture so silky, the fruit so seductive and complex that only the strongest willed will be able to give this wine the time it deserves.
Roy Hersch, fortheloveofport.com: 97+/100 "This Noval is a sexy, full-bodied Port with voluptuous juice flavors that holds nothing back on the palate. It has outstanding symmetry at this stage and the plush, subdued tannins are hard to detect, but they are lurking about just below the surface and lead to a superlative finish. I preferred this to the Quinta do Noval Nacional (some would call this "heresy") and the regular bottling is one of my favorite wines of this young vintage." "The 2003 Quinta do Noval VP is the real deal. Grab them by 3's, 6's or even by the case. This is the kind of Port you want to own multiples of."
James Suckling, The Wines Spectator: 96/100"What a nose. Ripe fruit, with chocolate, blackberries and raisins. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with velvety tannins. Finish goes on and on. Layered and wonderful. Best after 2014."
Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate: 94/100 "The inky, purple-colored, opaque 2003 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port soars from the glass, revealing dates, black cherries, copious flowers, and plums. Full-bodied, broad, and lush, this top-flight wine is harmonious and exhibits stupendous purity of fruit. Blueberries, cherries, and candied strawberries can be found in its nuanced, lengthy, plum-laced core as well as in its immensely long, dried berry-tinged finish. Drink this beauty between 2020 and 2045+."
