I reckon I have asked to look at a bottle of this no less then 17 times. Finally a famous cigarette smoker from Sydney decided to send a couple of bottles down. One bottle is screwcap and this bottle in DIAM.
This tasting note is based on the Diam and will try the screwcapped version tomorrow night. Firstly, this needs a good decant and serve it out of a burgundy glass. It is youthful in colour, deep purple and quite vibrant. The palate is also quite fragrant with fresh cherries, blood plum, rasperries and ribena all there. On the palate it is beautifully intergrated with fruit and oak perfectly matched. It is cleaner than the 2006 vintage but also fresher. For me it is more European than Aussie (in the Barossa sense) and should age a treat. 93+ points at moment but should improve as it gets older. Anthony D'Anna
