Dombeya Stellenbosch Chardonnay 2007
Rated 4.5 stars in the prestigious John Platter Guide, with only one South African wine above it. Gold medal, 2009 Tri Nations Challenge. The 2006 version was named Decanter's best new world white wine.
Stephen Tanzer: Bright, pale yellow. Discreet but highly nuanced nose melds musky citrus notes, subtle oak, dusty stonefruit and nutmeg. Dense, concentrated and harmonious, with lovely lift and integrated acidity giving shape and lift to the peach, lime and light oak flavours. This tactile, chewy chardonnay finishes with a strong impression of extract and impressive energy. 90 points.
