Roche de Bellene Bourgogne Blanc 2008
Following on from his time as winemaker at the family estate in Volnay, the superb Le Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. Nicolas Potel produced his own wine in 1996, before in 2000 creating Maison Potel-Aviron within the Beaujolais region. By 2005 Nicolas had built up his own estate in Beaune with 15 Ha of vines farmed organically, Domaine de Bellene.
In 2009 Nicolas Potel launched a new negociant business, Maison Roche de Bellene. Keeping the same source of wine from the same producers the Domaine had been using for the last 15 years. The only difference came with the move to only focus on offering the finest wines in limited cuvees, in order to achieve their goal of being the only Haute Couture negociant in Burgundy.
Simple and direct with clean mineral laden flavours supported by nice structure and good ripe fruit. A lovely luncheon style Bourgogne blanc showing much more weight and interest than similarly priced Bourgogne.
