Premium Botrytis Semillon fruit was sourced entirely from the Riverina region in New South Wales. A dry growing season with a cool harvest provided ideal conditions for the even development of botrytis. Alcohol by Volume: 13 % McWilliams
Many wineries in the NSW Riverina make botrytised sweet wines. In the years since Darren De Bortoli pioneered the style commercially in the 1980’s, it has become a regional speciality. Standards vary – some wines take sweetness and lusciousness to the extreme; others toy a little too much with volatile acidity for me. Then there are superb wines such as this McWilliam’s version.
