The luxury cuvee, the Cuvee des Cadettes, is the only Chateauneuf-du-Pape completely aged in 100% new oak, a la many Bordeaux and Burgundies. The brilliant 2004 Cuvee des Cadettes, 92-95 points (only 11,000 bottles made) is a blend of 44% Grenache, 33% Mourvedre, and the rest Syrah. Much deeper and richer in color, extract, and density, this wine exhibits a beautiful floral, blueberry, and blackberry nose with nicely integrated toasty oak, smoky, rich, concentrated flavors, and a dense, full-bodied, opulent finish.
