Bannockburn Geelong Chardonnay 2004
Winemaker/Manager, Gary Farr has spent many vintages working in Burgundy, principally at Domaine Dujac in Morey St. Denis, and this influence of French viticultural and vinification techniques, combined with Australian Quality control technology, has produced wines of outstanding excellence and complexity. After being one of the finalists in 2000, Gary Farr was named 2001 Qantas/The Wine Magazine, Winemaker of the Year.
The winemaker, Gary Farr has worked harvests at Morey-St-Denis since 1983 and is
wholly committed to Burgundian practices. He creates wine of concentration, power and structure, with unmistakable varietal character. The Pinot Noirs are outstanding and are still improving in bottle but, despite using Burgundian techniques, their flavour is far more muscular and rich than any Burgundy you're likely to come across." Bannockburn’s Chardonnays are also of exceptionally high quality. Its tete de cuvee SRH Chardonnay, as well as its classified Chardonnay, are likewise beacons of quality. Andrew Caillard MW
