Background
The Mount Edelstone vineyard, meaning gemstone, is a single delineated historic vineyard planted in 1912 on the eastern slopes of the hill of the same name, located near Keyneton high in the ranges east of the Barossa Valley. Aged vines, deep loam soil, Mediterranean climate and traditional hands-on winemaking techniques have continued to create one of Australia’s most unique old-vine shiraz wines. The 90-year-old dry-grown vines are low yielding producing extraordinary intensity of colour, depth of fruit flavours, complexity and palate length. The individual vineyard Mount Edelstone shiraz has been produced since 1956.
Wine Description
Very deep crimson in colour. Sweet and spicy, perfumed plums and black berry fruits with hints of anise, vanilla, tar and nuances of mint and white pepper. A luscious, fleshy, complex, textured palate with great depth and structure finishing with long silky tannins.
