Why do wine companies let their marketing folk have so much power? The label for this wine now resembles that of the Reserve which is quite confusing. Thankfully the quality has taken an upwards step with the new label and this is a stunning release for the money. Peninsula Pinot Noir can be hit and miss, this wine is right up there in quality and would give the 2008 Kooyong Massale a run for it’s money. Great drinking at an even better price with it on special for under $20 a bottle. 92 points Anthony D’Anna
The Stonier Pinot Noir was entirely fermented in small open fermenters, with a small percentage of stalks and very little berry crushing. Pressed and transferred to French oak for malolactic fermentation, and allowed to mature for a further 9 months before racking and bottling, the wine reflects the cool season and should be consumed within eighteen months.
