The term "Classic Dry White" was first coined in Margaret River at Vasse Felix in 1987. It has since become synonymous with Semillon / Sauvignon Blanc blends in the Margaret River region. The Vasse Felix version of Classic Dry White has been refined continually since 1987 and now includes a portion of Chardonnay to give this blend mouthfeel and complexity and generosity. The blend focus is primarily to showcase the intensely fruity and fresh flavours of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, as a result it is essentially an "unoaked" blend. However since 2000 vintage we have included a portion of Semillon that has been fermented with French oak to further increase complexity and length of flavour. The wine is fresh and vibrant and well suited to the Mediterranean climate and food culture found in Australia.
