Hoddles Creek Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010
The fruit for this wine is sourced from a select hillside vineyard in the Upper Yarra Valley. This vineyard was set-up with the help of Mario Marson (ex-winemaker at Mount Mary and now at Jasper Hill) and the quality coming of wine being produced is spectacular.
Almost New Zealand like, the nose is pungent and intense with gooseberry and lychee very dominate. These flavors also flow through on to the palate along with some minerally acidity and good length. The most pleasing aspect with Sauvignon Blanc is the move away from residual sugar and that is certainly evident in this wine, with fruit flavor rather than fruit sweetness providing the backbone to this wine. - Anthony D'Anna
