Yalumba 'Y Series' Riesling 2008

4½ stars - "Riesling is always a high point and the 2008 Y Series is excellent value. The aroma is an enticing mix of delicate florals, cinnamon and lime. It tastes of ripe fruit, has good length and mouthfeel and finishes lip-smacking, spicy and complete." Rating: 4 1/2 Stars. Food: vegetable tempura. Ageing: drink now to 2013. Sally Gudgeon & Ralph Kyte-Powell, Uncorked & Uncapped Summer 2008, Sunday Life, The Sun-Herald Magazine (Aus), 23 November 2008

"Really pretty perfume: lime pulp and gardenia. Plenty of pear too. Long and suprisingly powerful in mouth, yet soft in the middle with persistent creamy stonefruit flavours. Fruit packed. 92/100."

Tim White, The Australian Financial Review (Aus), 14-16th November 2008

85 points - "Attractive, appealing nose of citrus, melon and flowers. Textured and slightly broad in the mouth, the varietal definition starts to lose focus, although this is a wine made to fit a price point, and the style expectations of drinkers in such a category. Well made, as is always the case with Yalumba." Grant Dodd, www.thewinningpro.com (Aus), 15 October 2008

"The Yalumba Y label is a very dependable source of keenly priced riesling and from the 2008 vintage is a wine that should not be missed with limey citrus fruit dominating a fine and well-balanced palate." Angus Hughson, Daily Telegraph 'Simply Food' (Aus), 5 November 2008

Gentle processing of the grapes, and the use of only the clearest juice, followed by a cool even fermentation, ensures that the fresh flavours of the variety are preserved in the final wine.

Pale green hues, this wine has a spice and aromatic profile showing feijoa, lemongrass, rose petals and tropical fruit. Long, fine and refreshing, the Yalumba Y Series Riesling shows grapefruit flavours with balanced mineral acidity and fruit sweetness. This leads to a long lingering flavour and persistence on the palate

Gentle processing of the grapes, and the use of only the clearest juice, followed by a cool even fermentation, ensures the fresh flavours of the variety are preserved in the final wine. This wine is a blend of fruit from Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Adjacent to each other, these two regions make up the Barossa. The warmer Barossa Valley produces wines that have richness of flavour, while the cooler Eden Valley provides elegant and lifted aromatics. The Barossa region is renowned for its quality riesling wines.

Pale straw in colour. A generous yet elegant light bodied wine. It starts with aromas of grapefruit and apple blossom with hints of bath salts. The palate is clean and refreshing showing grapefruit and lemon peel flavours with appealing generosity. A soft lingering acidity complete the finish.
