Vines 9 & 6-year-old vines, pruned to 4 short fruiting canes, on standard vertical shoot positioning trellis. Moderate crop. Irrigation sufficient to sustain vines over this variable season
Climate: A long slow growing season with spring that initiated good bud burst and strong shoot growth, then a moist summer was followed by a cool dry autumn.
Wine Analysis:
Alcohol – 13.5%, T/a – 8.1g/L, Residual Sugar – 4g/L. pH-3.32
Appearance: Light straw
Bouquet: Fresh and clean, filled with fruit aromas of gooseberry and white currants, hints of tropical passion fruit and clean capsicum to round off.
Palate:
Dry and refreshing, showing purity of varietal fruit flavours, unmistakably Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, good palate weight with a great balance of acid to fruit flavours. Long and crisp to finish.
Wine making: The grapes were machine-harvested in cool early morning conditions. The ferment was entirely in stainless steel. Select yeast strains were used in a long, cool ferment to preserve the fruit’s intense varietal flavours.
