Few Australian red wines have a pedigree like this Wynns cabernet with the black label. The outstanding '98 vintage deserves a place in any cellar. A year after our first tasting of this excellent vintage, it's even more of an Australian classic at a fair price. This deep purple wine has delicious juicy blackcurrant, aromas of violets and spicy oak in fine harmony of the nose. In the mouth it boasts lovely fruit-sweet flavour of real freshness and elegance. Cabernet sauvignon's natural austerity provides excellent balance of flavour, and smooth, fine tannins carry a long finish. This will build complexity with age but it drinks well young too.
