Light/Medium Ruby red. Youthfully bright and clear.
Unmistakably Pinot Noir. The full spectrum of the Pinot Noir profile is on offer here as earthy, briary tones intersperse with fresh red and black summer berries and straps of red liquorice. Darker notes of black cherries and charred meats then appear, providing a firm stage for all these ethereal notes to play out upon. All this merges seamlessly with interplay of spicy tones which are not only derived by balanced oak inputs but also via subtle whole bunch stem inclusion.
With an initially medium plus weight the palate is immediately mouth filling with texture, then sweeps sharply into focus as a flood of primary and secondary characters glide upon a graceful, yet driving, acid line coupled with fine tannin support. The passage all the while gains momentum towards a finish that persists and returns in waves.
Whilst drinking well now we feel there is easily 10 years of development ahead, we like to think longer given solid acid backbone and the myriad of characters there are to develop here. This wine will reward patient cellaring as troves of savoury secondary characters await to take the place of the currently more youthful fruit driven profile.
