GW: Big juicy thing, all red fruits and nuts, shows a slight warmth, fresh, more rounded, aniseed/pastis thing and grip from chalky tannin. Open. Bright in a way. 94 points Gary F Walsh, The Wine Front
MB: Sweet whiffs of cranberry, pomegranate, ripe raspberry with liquorice, brambles. Evocative scents. Almost spice-cupboard like. Fleshy, bright and a touch warm in fruit character, quite flamboyant, powdery tannins weaving through red berries, dried herbs then fennel to close with a rolling pucker of chalkiness. It’s a bold expression, undisciplined at present, but enjoyable. 94 points Mike Beenie, The Wine Front
...doesn’t change its spots. Chubby is the word here - gorgeous lush, ripe, generous red fruits and big vase of fading flowers, some chocolate and cherry liqueur. This will be noticed and loved. Palate is big, sweet and expansive, yet sitting all around is a nice grippy/tingly frame. Glorious rich Barolo hanging it all out there. ***maybe +? David Ridge
Giovanni Sordo is the only winery making eight separate Barolo cru wines. Not only is this unique, but the wines all show distinctive traits – because the winemaking is hands-off, allowing the terroir of each cru to express itself in the wine.
This charming vineyard is to be found in a lovely natural amphitheater on the hill sloping down from Castiglione Falletto to the road to Alba. The vineyard is best known as the Sorito della Sera because of its excellent exposure with many hours of sun-facing which allows the grapes to reach a perfect maturation.
