The grapes for this wine come from the Belford Vineyard owned by the Elliott family. Located 15kms from the TyrrellÍs Winery, the Belford Vineyard is 4.92 hectares in size, its semillon vines planted in 1933. The grapes are all hand picked, inoculated to neutral yeast strain and traditionally fermented in tank under temperature controlled conditions. The Belford Vineyard produces the bigger and softer of all Tyrrell's premium Semillon wines.
Belford is the archetypal Hunter Valley, showing a tightly structured palate with considerable length and breadth of citrus honey flavours. Unequivocally a sublime drink with a fully engaging nose and palate, already displaying toasty bottle aged complexity. Straw coloured. A classic Hunter Semillon showing a tightly structured palate with considerable length and breadth of citrus honey flavours. Belford develops honey characters but maintains its natural fresh acid.
