Made from Barbera grapes grown in a large hilly area in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria characterised by calcareous, clayey and sandy soil. Winy, ethereal, with notes of blackberry, plum and spices on the nose. On the palate it is dry, round, bold and full-bodied.
I love Barbera, especially wines that have the balance between upfront fruit and tannin. This wine has that in spades and is beautifully balanced with lovely spicy Barbera fruit that highlights why Barbera from the Asti region in Piemonte is considered some of the world's best. With the cost of wine increasing dramaticially over the last few years, to be able to buy top line Italian Barbera dÁsti for $15 a bottle is absolutely crazy! Only 60 doz available for the whole of Australia.
