Vespolina is the local grape of Alto Piemonte, a variety that is a mandatory part of the Boca blend, a minimum of 10% being required, but is rarely seen on its own. There is a crisp, alpine strawberry aroma that reminds you of Nebbiolo but the wine is much lighter than that and also betrays an interesting peppery twist to the crisp, cool and clear fruit. Very pretty, juicy and refreshing. From vineyards at 450 metres above sea level, aged in steel tank for 18 months before bottling.

Sour cherry, almond, dried herb and honey. It’s medium-bodied, plenty of crunch and red cherry, gentle bitterness and new leather, sandy tannin, a whole lot of ‘interest’ in terms of drinking appeal, and dusty herbal and sweet fruit on a solid finish. Easy to like, if you like this kind of thing. If you know what I mean.
