Pierro’s VRT Chardonnay sits among the most distinctive and sought-after expressions from one of Margaret River’s benchmark producers. Where the classic Pierro Chardonnay is already known for its richness, texture and power, VRT takes things into even more focused territory, drawn from a very small parcel and produced in tiny quantities.
The 2022 release shows the layered, deeply flavoured style that has made Pierro Chardonnay so highly regarded. White peach, nectarine, lemon curd and grapefruit sit alongside cashew, nougat, struck match, fine oak spice and a subtle savoury edge. There is generosity here, but also precision, with the fruit held in check by bright acidity and a long mineral line.
The palate is powerful and textural, with ripe stone fruit, citrus oil, toasted hazelnut and creamy lees complexity carried by a firm, structured frame. Oak is present but well integrated, adding breadth and polish without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long, savoury and finely detailed, showing both immediate appeal and serious cellaring potential.
