The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons from Jean-Paul et Benoît Droin captures the classic energy and tension that define this famed south-facing site. Bright and lifted, it opens with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and crushed seashells, framed by a subtle touch of oak from gentle élevage.
The palate is finely detailed and mineral-driven, showing a core of ripe citrus and stone fruit supported by vivid acidity. There’s excellent balance here between richness and precision, the hallmark of Droin’s modern style that continues to elevate this historic Chablis estate.
A brilliant example of Premier Cru Chablis from one of the region’s benchmark producers — vibrant, saline, and built to age gracefully over the next decade.
A slightly cooler if still ripe nose reflects notes of white pepper, plenty of citrus influence and discreet shellfish nuances. Here too the palate impression of the middleweight flavors is one of richness and generosity yet the supporting acidity is both a little firmer and a bit brighter as well. This delicious effort could use better depth but more should reasonably develop with a few years of aging.
Boccaccio Cellars offers real time shipping rates at checkout. These are heavily subsidised rates directly from Australia Post and will vary depending on your postcode.
Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing costs of postage we are unable to offer free shipping any longer. Postal increases have seen the average box of wine range from $30-$60, which can represent up to 500% of the cost of the average bottle of wine.
Your postal costs are calculated on the following factors:
- Where in Australia you are shipping to (Where rural postcodes obviously attract a higher charge)
- What in Australia you are shipping (Beer and water for example, are calculated in real time without any additional subsidy. This is because the margins for these products are minimal). Dry goods attract a discounted flat fee of $12 per carton (Calculated by gross weight).
Pickups on all items are encouraged.
