Margaret River’s maritime climate and gravelly soils make it particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. This 2023 release shows the region’s familiar combination of ripe black fruit, savoury detail, fresh acidity and structured tannins.
Deep crimson with garnet edges, the wine opens with cassis, blackberry and mulberry. Bay leaf, cedar, dark chocolate and subtle oak spice provide a savoury counterpoint to the fruit.
The palate is medium to full bodied, with concentrated dark fruit, fine tannins and a measured influence of French oak. It has enough structure for the dining table while remaining approachable now.
The fruit was hand harvested and fermented in small open-top fermenters, with gentle pump-overs used to manage colour and tannin extraction. Maturation in French oak barriques added texture and savoury complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
